The SPOEC project will bring together expertise from across Europe. By combining the experience and facilities developed under the SCIOS programme in Scotland with the optoelectronics device expertise of Trinity College, Dublin; the electronics capabilities of Supélec, France; and the laser advances coming out of the Paul Scherrer Institute in Zürich; a powerful team is created, able to tackle the many facets of optical interconnects for silicon IC's.
The collaboration has been kept to a relatively small number of partners, ensuring that everyone has a clear and distinct contribution to make. The consortium exhibits a high degree of synergy, permitting the creation of an ambitious project that would only be practical on this collaborative scale.
